Actual origin of the so–called “Mauriceau” manoeuvre, usually credited to Mauriceau (No. 6147). Guillemeau was not only responsible for this technique for delivery of the after coming head so important before the forceps and Caesarian section, but he was also the first to employ podalic version in placenta praevia.
